  • How does hair transplantation work?

Hair transplant involves taking hair from the safe donor area of your head (the back side) and moving the hair to the top or the crown. This can be done by the strip method or by the FUE method. There are disadvantages and advantages to each technique and one of these may be better for you then the other method. Come in for a consultation and let Dr. Prasad explain your options to you.

  • Will hair transplantation results look completely natural or will people know I had a transplant?

Gone are the days of the hair plugs and the Barbie doll look. The newer method of grafting follicular units makes the transplant very natural so that your family and friends will not know that you had a transplant. Most patients are unable to differentiate between a transplanted and a natural hair.

  • What is the success ratio with this procedure or how many of the hair grafts will take?

We estimate that we have a ninety to ninety-five percent success rate from the follow-up evaluations and photos of our patients.* As with any other medical procedure, there can be variability from one person to another.

  • Will the results last?

Yes. The donor hair is taken from the “safe” zone and even after moving the hair follicle it keeps the safe status. We will talk about how to keep from losing more hair during your consultation.

  • When will my new hair start to grow?

Usually, patients begin to feel new hair starting to grow about three months after the hair transplant surgery. However, new growth can happen up to a year after the transplant. One can say that It is a gradual process after surgery over the next six to eighteen months.*

  • Where is the procedure done?

The procedure is done here at our Roseville office in our state of the art facility.

  • How much recovery / healing time can I expect?

Healing time varies between patients. We have had some patients that have returned to work the very next day and some that take a week or so before returning to their routine.

  • How painful is the procedure?

Most patients tolerate the procedure without any difficulty. The procedure only requires local anesthesia with some sedation given by mouth. Patients find the procedure to be quite tolerable.*

  • How do I know how many hair grafts I need?

To best answer this question, it is imperative to come in for a consultation with Dr Prasad and let her give you an estimate of how many follicles are needed. The number of grafts is dependent on your donor area and your degree of hair loss and your desired density.

  • How affordable is the procedure?

Hair transplant can fit into every patient’s budget. A patient can choose to do several small surgeries and build up the density or do a larger case to start with.
