DID YOU KNOW?

  • In the U.S., hereditary hair loss affects approximately 30 million women and 50 million men.
  • Forty percent of women have visible hair loss by the time they are age forty.
  • Two-thirds of American men report some degree of hair loss and thinning by age thirty-five. At Fifty years old, eighty-five percent report a significant degree of hair thinning or hair loss.
  • By the time you start to see hair thinning, you have already lost fifty percent of your hair in that area.

In our society, hair has a significant aesthetic value. Everywhere you look, you see advertisements for products that will make it richer, fuller and healthier. Hair is a huge part of our appearance and self-image and it can be devastating when it starts to change. For many men, this change can begin in their early twenties, when they start to notice hair falling out and their hairline receding. For women, hair loss usually begins in their forties but can start earlier as well.

Whether you have recently experienced hair loss or have been battling it for years, you’ve come to the right place. Dr. Prasad has dedicated her career to offering the most advanced hair restoration treatments available, both medical treatment for prevention and surgical treatment for replacement. Our team is passionate about what we do – we want to make you look and feel yourself again!

Hair losscan be life-altering for men and women. Many people suffer immensely when losing their hair, feeling unattractive and older, and experiencing a loss of self-esteem. Some patients say that it affects their relationships and career and that their doctors don’t seem to understand the emotional trauma they are going through. Oftentimes, by the time they come in for a consult, our patients are tired of using expensive hairpieces and wigs or tired of repeatedly using the fiber products that camouflage their hair loss.

Normal Hair Loss

Everyone loses some hair every day. All the hair follicles on the body cycle between active hair growth and then a period of falling out and resting. Normally, we lose about one hundred hairs per day.

Hair is created by hair follicles. When a hair follicle dies, for whatever reason, it can no longer produce a strand of hair. Hair follicles do not regenerate once they are gone, and at that point. Your genetic makeup is the major influence on hair health, but other factors include nutrition, medications, stress, and hormonal changes.

My primary concern before I called Dr. Prasad was substantial hair loss both in the front and crown of my head. I have had very good results. The cost was the only thing that had prevented me from calling before. I appreciated the excellent results I received and the wonderful staff. I would recommend Dr. Prasad because the procedure was quick and fairly painless. The results were worth the cost and the staff made the whole process comfortable and answered all the questions I had.*

Why Does it Happen?

Androgenetic Alopecia, also known as “male-pattern baldness”, is the most common reason for men to lose their hair. This condition is caused by hormones and has an underlying genetic basis.

Women can have androgenetic alopecia but may also have other contributing factors, therefore requiring a more in-depth examination of their history and a thorough physical evaluation.

Why Don’t Over-the-Counter Products Work?

You’ve tried hair growth products and you don’t see results.

Results may vary

If you search the local drug store or on the Internet, you will find nearly one hundred products that claim to work. You are promised amazing results. However, most of these products have not been found to be effective. Because of the absence of regulations in the non-pharmaceutical industry, these products do not have to prove effectiveness to be marketed. Some may contain various amounts of minoxidil (a topical medication that helps to regrow hair), but may not contain the optimal concentrations to give satisfactory results.

Disguising your hair loss doesn’t seem to work in the long term.

You may have tried other ways to hide your hair loss, such as custom hairpieces that are glued to your scalp, or the latest wigs or extensions. While these options can look very natural, our patients complain that they become very expensive, time-consuming, and uncomfortable.

Male Hair Loss Treatment RosevilleWhat is the Next Step?

Step one is to make an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Prasad at Sacramento Hair Doctor. Because every patient is different, she will consider all the factors that could be contributing to your hair loss, including:

  • Age, medical history, and family history of hair loss
  • Hair loss pattern, skin tone, hair type/density, scalp elasticity
  • Hormones, stress, or environmental factors
  • Options of lab tests or scalp biopsy

Our number one priority is to make the best recommendation for your short-term and long-term goals. We will discuss the options of surgical and non-surgical treatment.

While hair replacement surgery may be the best option, there are also situations where Dr. Prasad may recommend no treatment, medical therapy, or a combination of medical and surgical treatment. Considerations include a degree of hair thinning or loss, insufficient donor hair, or conditions that would prevent successful hair transplants, such as scarring alopecia and other rare disorders in which hair follicles are destroyed and replaced with scar tissue, causing lasting hair loss.

We will work with you to achieve the Best Results Possible.
